Do I need a DVR cable box or just a regular cable box to record tv with an Archos DVR Station?

I want to buy it but I have no clue how it works recording video wise.

Answer It works as a pass through device. Basically you connect your source (cable box, DVD player, etc..) to the IN on the DVR station and then go OUT from the DVR station to the TV. What ever source you have going in can be recorded.
