In the mobile space today, a handful of devices top of the list of most consumers worldwide. In the smartphone market, Apple's iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones and even some Motorola devices are desired by customers. Within a tablet, the vast majority of people looking to buy the iPad 2, while the rest of the people opt for a tablet-based Android as Galaxy Tab 10.1. But as someone who went to their local big box retailer knows, there are more devices on store shelves from a range of companies in the hope that someone will buy their products. The only problem is that many of these products are not attractive, and when all is said and done, they collect dust on store shelves. This slide show takes a look at these products as mobile unhappy for various reasons has never taken and no one wants. Some of the following are obvious, while others might surprise some people there. But in general, these devices have earned their place in the class of the sad side.
Like father, like son, or so the saying goes. Most young parents would have most probably gone through this particular conversation with their little ones – as to why daddy and/or mummy can carry an iPad and an iPhone, but little Jeremy cannot. The reason is simple – how can a little kid know about good stewardship? Surely there will be mistakes along the way, and replacing a broken iPad is definitely an expensive mistake to make. Not only that, most tablets do come with adult-centric apps (obviously), with very little (or no) attention being paid to apps and programs that appeal to kids.
Well, Archos sees this particular niche and has decided to step up the game by announcing the Archos Child Pad. This 7″ tablet will run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and is said to deliver a safe, fun, full tablet experience – all for just $129 a pop.
The Archos Child Pad will come in a compact and lightweight design, running on a 1GHz processor and boasting 1GB of RAM. It will arrive at international markets at the end of this month, and Henri Crohas, Founder and CEO of Archos has this to say, “As a pioneer in the portable audio and Android tablet market we realize the importance of providing a tablet that can offer hours of entertainment for all ages, especially kids. ARCHOS strives to offer great tablets with only the best of features at affordable prices and we expect this tablet to bring a smile to the faces of kids and parents’ everywhere.
