do you need a 1080p HDTV to get the most from blu-ray movies?i have a 32" 720p Insignia HDTV and a Toshiba BDX2000 blu-ray player. and the blu-ray movie's picture on my tv doesn't look any better than the picture i get from upscaling my dvds with my blu-ray player. in fact i think upscaling dvds look better
1080p is almost twice the resolution of 720p, so yes it makes a difference. Although on a tv that's only 32 inches you won't notice a huge jump in detail. If you had a tv over 40 inches though, that would be another story.
