What is the best $1000 receiver not for home theatre?

I'm willing to spend 1000 clams on a receiver and all i need it do is give life to some old 1969 bose 901 speakers and run my music hall turntable and denon cd player. I dont need a home theatre anything. just a nice two channel receiver. am happy to

Answer That budget probably isn't quite enough to go with a nice separate amp, preamp and tuner. You should be able to get a reasonably awesome stereo receiver for considerably less though.
