Hands-on look at the Sony Nex 5 interchangeable lens camera with the 16mm flat pancake lens....
I was excited when I saw this lens accidentally as I was ordering a different lens. Because I always wanted a wide angle fisheye lens when I used my old slr camera and never got one and because this one was very inexpensive, I thought I would try it out on my sony nex-3 camera. It is wonderful! It comes with an adapter (49mm)to fit the camera (but extra surprise/bonus is it also included adapter (52-55) which fits my sons Pentax!) Being avid travelers, we have both been having a wonderful time taking great pictures! The lens takes unique fisheye pictures without zoom, but then when zooming…it accesses its regular wide angle feature. It also is great for macro pictures. The lens is sturdy, small (easy to carry as an extra lens) and comes in a handy well padded pouch. Thank you for a wonderful product and at an above reasonable price!
These lens took a little time to screw in all the adapters for it to fit in my NEX-5 18-55mm E-Mount Lens. But once it did, it works just as it said it would. The picture quality expected to look not as nice as the true fisheye lenses with a lot more blurry effect toward the edges when zoomed in. The pictures were not as sharp as I would like. And it also darkened the picture as well. However, I do like the darkened, blurred edge effect every now and then to get an interesting effect to a shot. For the price you are paying, it works wonderfully well. The only con would be that, in my lens, there a little water stain damage on it. Regardless, al I had to do was wipe it up and it worked perfectly fine.
